Rhonda Shear got her first big break in beauty model pageants. And in most of those pageants Shear acted as Miss Louisiana. Makes sense, too: she hails from New Orleans, after all.
So let’s hear a bit about her hometown. New Orleans is a major U.S. city and the largest amongst them in Louisiana. Located in in the southeastern portion of the country, New Orleans sits on the Mississippi River and is known for its multiculturalism, fine cuisine and music (as the home of jazz music). It is often known as the “most unique” city in the United States.
The city of New Orleans currently boasts a population of 275,000, a number that has recovered since the Hurricane Katrina disaster in 2005. Over 1,500 people died and those who remained behind had to be rescued from the resulting flood. As of 2007 the city has regained approximately two-thirds of its former population.
